Travelling through Thailand from South to North is it safe?
My wife and i are planning on doing approx 3 three weeks sightseeing Thailand from one end to the other before crossing over to Vietnam. We like to travel on our own without any tours are we safe to do this. We love to see all historical things whether in the Hills or elsewhere once again is it safe
Will you be driving? If driving, the only place I'd be at all concerned about would be the mountains in the southeast of Thailand that border Cambodia. I wouldn't go there, and there's nothing there to see anyway. The mountains in the north are safe, and actually EVERYWHERE in Thailand is safe. The most 'unsafe' place might be the 40 around the Malaysia border in the south, although personally I never saw any kind of problems anywhere around there. We stayed in Hai Yai for several days and drove around, and it seemed just like anyplace else. (and I was with a Muslim from Malaysia)
I've lived here 4 1/2 years.
