Reunification Palace: an Icon of Freedom

Once the home of the South Vietnamese democracy and its president, this former presidential palace today serves as another symbol; the symbol of the unification of Vietnam.

Some of the attractions that are housed include the very tanks that crashed through the gates in 1975. One of its most notable features is the buildings strong 1960’s architecture that is so visible throughout. Tour the private quarters, kitchen dining rooms and even the president’s office.

The War Command Room complete with its extensive communication facilities is also an area that cannot be missed. The basement area is also used to show a documentary that relates to the war years. Separate rooms are available for screenings in different languages.

Discover the spacious interiors and lifestyle that was enjoyed by the President of South Vietnam. The building is most certainly lush on the inside and no expense was spared in its construction.

On the fourth floor is the President’s living quarters and this includes a wonderful open air atrium that illuminates a bonsai garden. Atop the rooftop is a helipad that is still used today.

The view of the beautiful gardens from inside the palace shouldn’t be missed and it gives a fresh perspective on the entire building and even helps stimulate the mind to imagine what it must have been like for those inside the palace when it was under siege.

The conference room at Reunification Palace is still used for major national events. Some might be misled with the carpet that is found in the nearby vicinity as it is a worn out item. This is however replaced when there is an actual event with an extremely plush and lush carpet.

Staying in a hotel in Saigon that is located close to the Reunification Palace such as Parkroyal Saigon not only provides guests with convenient access to this destination but also a range of amenities to ensure for a comfortable stay. This Saigon hotel promises a memorable stay to its guests.
