What is the cheapest way to travel across the Pacific Ocean?
Departing from southern California and arriving at a flexible destination such as Vietnam, Thailand, China, etc.
I've investigated cargo ships/freighters but it's not cheaper than flying because they have to accommodate passengers for such a long journey. Possibly there is a way to temporarily work on a boat for the length of the trip?
Any other ideas you can brainstorm will be much appreciated! I'm not looking for luxury... I'd ship myself in a FedEx crate if it was legal.
