Vietnam Battlefield Tours

vietnam battlefield tours"vietnam battlefield tours"
Which movie, in your opinion, best reflects actual warfare?

I realize that Hollywood and the battlefield are light-years apart, but which film or films get it close to right?

My uncle, a Marine who served 3 tours in Vietnam, always said that "Apocalypse Now" portrayed Vietnam fairly well. Just the level of craziness, etc, that was happening there. Thanks.
This is for any war or conflict which has taken place.
Kojak: I really got into Black Hawk Down..just the intense conflict...the anger of the enemy and the desire to save your men....
My Mom's Dad was on an LST off the beach on D-Day. He showed me pictures he brought back...it was JUST like Saving Pvt. Ryan. Grandpa was so proud to serve in the Navy....
Jeff: I think my uncle trained on Parris Island also...he never said much about basic, but my uncle could put the fear of God in anybody. If that's what Marines are like, I'm glad I'm not the enemy.

War is like a jewel.....it has many facets....each a little different than the next......how people feel and experience that war is different with each person.... I was in Vietnam....on the front line , in the mud and the blood....I thought "Apocolypse Now" while losely based on a true story.....was NOTHING like the real thing
I was in the 25th Inf Div with Oliver Stone and his picture "Platoon" was a load of BS also.... fanciful war stories not reality ( the night combat scenes were very realistic....but that was all)..... the carnage of the Normandy invasion of "Saving Private Ryan' was real.....but the rest of the movie was Hollywood crap.....
"Black Hawk Down' was real...."Tears of the Sun" was fairly accurate ( a couple of minor flaws)......

Movies are meant to "entertain"...... war is NOT very entertaining...... it is long hours of tedious boring work intersperced with intermissions of shear panic and chaos...... If you do not have scars on the outside.....you always will have scars on the inside.....I can not look at a Christmas tree without remembering picking little pieces of red meat out of trees.....meat that seconds before had been a member of my platoon..... I hope you NEVER experience the REAL movie
