Does Vietnam Still Hate Americans?
I was watching a top gear episode lately, they did a tour of vietnam. If their chosen bike couldnt finish, punishment was to ride an american themed bike with 2mtr high american flages blaring "born in the usa".
is this really that bad?? i mean, i know bit about the war, but do vietnamese people still hate americans.
iv spent a few weeks in Vietnam, spending time in hanoi, ho chi minh and halong. and up the coast.
it seemed to me as the north vietnames didnt really like americans, where as in ho chi minh the american flag is more widely seen, eg stickers on rickshaws.
Well, I don't know if all the Vietnamese people have ever even hated Americans in the first place. However, I can not speak for all the people In Vietnam. There are nice people and mean people in Vietnam just like everywhere else. I met a lot of nice people there when I visited Saigon two years ago. Although, my Vietnamese is very poor as a foreigner. Many people in Vietnam love us Americans. They have the idea that America is full of famous people like Britney Spears. They follow the American fashion very closely, almost mimicking the latest styles. I don't consider that a bad thing, though.
So.. No, I don't think they have that grudge. I felt most welcomed there when I visited.
Hope this helped.
