Electric Bus for Ha Noi city tours - Haivenu Tours
From July 17, 2010 a welcome new and forward-thinking initiative has been introduced to provide visitors to Hanoi with an exciting and effective transport solution around the ever popular Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake districts of the city.
A fleet of small modern electric battery-powered buses, capable of seating up to eight passengers, will now ply this route as a comfortable, clean, noise and emission free alternative to motor cycle tours. The open-sided design of the vehicles are ideal for keeping the visitor fully "in touch" with the thrumming vibrancy of the Old Quarter, yet provide a more spacious and secure environment for visitors than the traditional cyclo trips also currently operating in this area.
The new vehicles are equipped with automated commentary guides, selectable in both English and Vietnamese, and will operate daily between the hours of 08:30 - 16:30 and 19:00 - 23:00, departing from the electric bus station at Dinh Tien Hoang Street, situated at the northeast corner of Hoan Kiem Lake, with the 13 stop circular route designed around the area's most iconic features.
1. Hang Ngang House, within which Ho Chi Minh drafted his document of independence
2. Dong Xuan Market
3. Quan Chuong Gate
4. Hang Vai Street, home of traditional medicinal practitioners
5. Bach Ma Temple
6. Ma May Ancient House
7. Hang Bac Street, Hanoi's oldest
8. Hang Bo Street, ("Street of Woven Baskets")
9. Bat Dan Street, famed for its noodle dishes
10. Xuan Phien Temple
11. King Le Dinh Nam Huong Statue / Ba Da Pagoda
12. King Ly Thai To Statue / Trang Tien Plaza
13. Ba Kieu Temple / Ngoc Song Temple
At the present time the scheduled service does not offer hop on - hop off ticketing, and if passengers leave the bus to visit the sights, they will need to purchase another ticket to complete their journey. Encouragingly, the ticket price, at 15,000 Dong, is mercifully cheap, less than $1.
For an infinitely more relaxed alternative to the regular 45 minute commercial viewing schedule, contact Haivenu Vietnam Holidays as they can arrange the services of one of the new electric vehicles for your party privately to enble the freedom of chooing your preferred locations and ample time for you to amble around.
The electric bus initiative has been timed to coincide with Hanoi's 1000th Anniversary and is at the forefront of a drive towards improved environmental sensitivity in the preservation of these precious ancient streets well into the next millennium of the city's long and worthy history.
