A brief visit to Tam Giang Lagoon evokes romance with its vista of gleaming, rippling water reflecting the sunset.
Keeping my face to the breeze at twilight, I suddenly remembered the poem "Twilight at Tam Giang Lagoon" written by the famous Vietnamese poet, To Thuy Yen. The immense lagoon stirred nostalgic memories and mellowed my mind.
It's been over a week since I went to enjoy the tranquility of the lagoon on which the Vedana Lagoon Resort is nestled on its shores. Tam Giang lagoon is the largest fresh water lagoon stretching a length of 70 km. The scenery of wildly forested hills and the serene lagoon soothes the agitated soul.
I chose a bungalow built over the water that offers great sunset views. The style of the room is really unique and impressive, combining tradition and modern concepts. The décor included a number of Cham sculptures that remind travelers of My Son, where the great Cham Empire once flourished.
The next morning, I woke to the sunlight streaming into my room. I went to the Tai chi class on a pavilion over the water. I had the option to plant trees, go fishing, kayaking or cycling.
I have holidayed in other hotels and resorts but there is nowhere else that satisfied me as much as Vedana Lagoon. Just imagine, a 27 hectare resort with only 27 villas and lots of space for solitude. The restaurant, bar, library and other spaces is not crowded or noisy either. Sipping a cup of coffee or a cocktail to the melody of a mellow music at the Cape bar became my favorite thing to do in the late evening.
I returned with a lingering sense of peace wishing to return another day.
