How To Make A Water Rocket In 2 Hours

There are many ways to make a water rocket fly high into the sky, but I am going to show you 5 simple steps of making the water propelled rocket without spending too much time or involving complicated steps.

Step 1:
The first thing you need to do is to get an empty 1.5 or 2L empty coke bottle to be used as the main body of the water powered rocket. This body is the main "engine" and is used to stored all the compress air and water. Make sure it is air tight and no scratches can be found on this bottle so that when you pump in the air, there will be no leakage.

Step 2:
Find a Gardena hose connector system which consists of an adapter that is normally connected to the tap and the quick release connector which connects the adapter and the water hose. This is the standard garden equipment and you can get it from any gardening store.

Step 3:
Use the Gardena adapter as the nozzle of the water rocket and attach it to the coke bottle. This is one of the difficult steps because you have to screwed the adapter to the bottle as tight as possible so that when the air is pumped into the bottle, the entire water rocket is air tight.

Step 4:
Attach a water hose to the Gardena quick release connector. The other end of the water hose will be attached to a car or bicycle tire valve. Make sure the tire valve is secured air tightly to the water hose. You may want to wrapped a few rounds of layers of rubber around the tire valve to make it easier to be attached to the water hose.

Step 5:
Connect all the parts together. Connect the empty bottle to the Gardena hose connector system, with the water hose attached. Then use your bicycle pump and connect to the tire valve and pump air to a pressure of 30 to 40 psi. If there is no sound of air leakage, your water rocket is ready to be fired!

Now, all you have to do is to add some weight to the nose cone (top of the inverted bottle), attach 3 or 4 fins near the nozzle of the water rocket to make it a stable flight so that the water rocket will not flip up and down when flying.
