Halong Bay boat charter prices?

How much would I look to pay to charter a nice boat in Halong Bay for 2 nights if I were to book direct, on the day, when we arrive in Halong?

I've looked online and it's in the $'000s. I've been to Vietnam previously and can't believe it's that expensive!

There are 6 of us, we'd want a boat with probably 4/5 cabin, somewhere to eat onboard, a bar, and a nice sun deck.

Actually I was in Halong Bay recently. It should only cost you around $100 to $200 dollars.

A few points to mention... If you book for two nights, make sure the boat is not returning into port the next morning as most of the vessels are only overnight. You will simply be doing the same trip again. Ensure it will continue on around the islands. Only a few of the boats will do this.

Try to get a boat that has shade on the sundeck otherwise you can get quite burnt and reasonable deck chairs, some are quite bad (most are not shaded up top)

All cabins are generally 2 people in each cabin (2 x single beds or 1 x double bed)

Go there early in the morning around 7am if you want to book and leave on the same day, (I think it leaves around 10.30am) you would need an hour or two to negotiate which vessell to go on, there are dozens. Best to negotiate the afternoon before the trip.
