Permanent resident getting a passport to travel to vietnam?

Hi, could anyone tell me how long it take for me to get a passport to travel to Vietnam if I'm a US permanent resident (Not Citizen)? I know that it take about 6weeks to get 1 if you are a citizen, but what about permanent resident?

If your Vietnamese passport is still valid (not expired) you can use it to travel to Vietnam.

If not, you have two options
1) re-new your vietnamese passport
2) this is what I would recommend. Just apply for a travel visa to enter Vietnam (you would use your "green" card to come back into the states). In this case, you would not need a Vietnam or US passport at all. Contact the Vietnamese Embassy to obtain a visa application. Or if you bought a ticket from a vietnamese travel agent, they will usually help you get one. To the embassy, whether or not you have a passport is not important, just use your "Green" Card in place of the passport.
