Holiday Travel Agent

holiday travel agent_2"holiday travel agent"
where is the best place to book a holiday to new yor (ie which website or travel agent)?

i want to book it for 28 december 2007 to 3 january 2008.

There are so many reasons you should be a bit leery of booking on a website. Over the years we hear the consumer’s stories of how they were burned with online travel and at this point they then come to us. Anywhere from showing up at the airport and having no tickets. IF this were to ever happen, who do you call your agent who keeps paper work on all transactions in a file so if the airline makes you buy a new ticket for example; we have the proof of showing differently to ensure you get your money back. Had another book her package on Orbitz and literally traveled down to Cancun only to see the Marriott was currently closed due to the after effects of a hurricane and in renovations. She was put in a 2 star instead of the 5 star she booked! She is still fighting with them. Another who had to cancel and now just a bit over a year later she is waiting for her refund remainder of this trip.

When you are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on travel, is it really worth it to try and book on your own and cross your fingers and hope no problems occur. Many people have the misconception that agents add on commission. I can't speak for all companies, but I know ours does not. Many do charge a nominal service fee, but it is worth it! So you can try and book online and hope to just have everything goes smooth. Hey you might book 50 times and have nothing happen, but that one time something does you can financially get really burned! Plus at least check with a Travel Agent. Many websites undercut agents for years and are now raising prices because they know that many consumers just have that in there head "Online ALWAYS cheaper". Not always true......

With an agent you always have a direct contact that even if your agent is out one day; all the other agents in the office will have access to your file. You will always have a personal contact as to where with a website, you will be calling an 800 # waiting for the next avail. Rep and never getting the same person twice. Then you have someone to help you with all your questions, concerns, etc.

Like any industry not all travel agents are knowledgeable & honest people. You usually can tell in just speaking with someone for a short time. If you aren't satisfied with the 1st one you speak with, try to contact another. Once you find a person you like, stick with them! Plus you are looking at very high travel dates; I would start looking into this with an agent ASAP! If you have flexibility with your dates you could maybe save a bit of money. This also is something an agent can help you with.

Best of Luck to you!
