thailand to cambodia to vietnam?

im going to thailand in may for a month and then im going to cambodia for a week and vietnam for a week and then australia for a year, my travel agent said i can only book to bangkok and then australia and that it would be much easier to book my flights for cambodia and vietnam internally as i go along with time allowing to get back to bangkok for my flight to sydney, anyone any experience or suggestions? cheers!!

Your travel agent is right, there are a couple of budget airlines and quite a few full service airlines that fly between Bangkok, Cambodia and Vietnam. You do need to figure out which airlines fly to what cities though. For instance, Air Asia one of the budget airlines flies to Phnom Penh from Bangkok but not from Phnom Penh to Vietnam, but Vietnam Airlines flies that route. Air Asia and Jetstar offer very good fares to Vietnam from Bangkok, but only Jetstar and Vietnam Airlines fly domestically in Vietnam. You also need to check baggage allowances on the budget airlines, they have low allowances and high overweight baggage fees, so travel light or store some belongings at a hotel or somewhere in Bangkok if you fly one of those airlines. Also, Bangkok Airways has flights to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, and Thai Airways flies to Phnom Penh from Bangkok and Air France offers good prices between Bangkok and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City for a full service airline. It's easy enough to book online, buy a ticket at the airport or through one of the many travel agents you'll find in the larger cities and many hotels. Good luck.
