Vietnam by far: Safest, no doubt. Thailand is undafe due to many violent crimes and frequent political unrests. Laos is unsafe because of more primitive conditions.
Vietnam's best sides: Many: Beautiful and varied landscape, natural as well as man-made sites. Beautiful and friendly people. Great food and great shopping.
Vietnam's worst sides: There's still some poverty and lack of development, especially in the countryside. There're street crimes but few and usually petty. The fact that it's officially a "communist" country does turn off some people.
