What are some things to know about going on a month long trip to vietnam?

The main one is that you will wish it was longer , did do that trip and stayed for 2 years . Relax and enjoy everything be very patient and accept that things do not always go to plan , in the same breathe always be aware of your surroundings . You will be amongst the most beautiful , but mainly poor people(compared to the west) and do not tempt fate by letting your guard down . Do some research i strongly recommend the "Rough Guide to Vietnam" a great down to earth no frills guide .
Plan your places you wish to see , but do not be surprised if you end up being diverted . South Vietnam you must see Saigon , Nha Trang , Hoi An(do not miss), Hue . My list could go on and on research and make your own rough guide , the trains are great fun so maybe incorporate a journey in your travels. Enjoy !
