Another Vietnam story? This one humorous?
A vet I knew fairly well told me this one. He was an infantry army major and did three tours!!
He was in the front passenger seat of his jeep and his driver went inside for something for a while. He had a box of beers in the back seat on the driver's side and once in a while he looked back to make sure it was still there. (They were downtown somewhere, I guess Saigon??)
Well after a while the driver came back out and later when he went to grab the box it was empty! A hole had been cut out on the side and someone had stealthily taken em out one by one.
My Dad told me about a fellow Marine he knew. This guy was on guard duty at a fence line at night. At sunrise they found out that he was gone. They thought that he'd "went over the hill". A few days later he came stumbling back into camp with his rifle over his shoulder, and carrying his left arm in his right hand. He'd been pulled out of his hole by a tiger, and dragged into the jungle. He was in shock and couldn't fire his weapon, until the tiger tore the arm off. Then he was able to fire his rifle and scare off the tiger, who left the arm laying there.
OK, so that was more horrific than funny.
How about this. One of Dad's assignments was to drive a USO jeep for Ethyl Merman for a month. Apparently she was very "friendly" to the troops.
