vietnam to china - traveling?

Hi,

I will be in Vietnam this summer with a student group. However, i want to visit family in China. i have a few question:

- how much is the flight from vietnam to china
- best way of travel: flight, bus, etc?
- is it safe to travel alone (female, 20 years old)
- any other tips

The best way to travel is by air of course but there is no way I can attempt to give you prices because you have not given your starting point or your destination. the train system in china is also very good and you can find all the information that you need in the web site http://www.seat61.com/ this is a really great site that has everything to do with trains and ferrys world wide.
You are generally safe to be traveling alone but you need to have some common sense and a lot of confidence. China is, afterall, a police state and you are never far from someone in authority.
