In the Bible But not in the Quran (40): Was Aaron (moses' Brother) Sinful and Corrupt-d?

Was Aaron (Moses' brother) Sinful and Corrupt in the Bible?

Yes, he made the Golden Calf, built an altar for it and announced to worship it. And because of this – according to God' Law;

He was Cursed because he had violated God' Law!

And had to be destroyed quickly; and Moses had to kill Aaron together with all the people which followed him!


This is the Biblical idea about Aaron (Moses' brother).

Let us go to the Noble Quran to see its idea about Aaron and who made the golden calf


Was Aaron (Moses' brother) Sinful and Corrupt in the Noble Quran?

No, he was not at all

Then who was?

It is not Aaron but the Samaritan was Sinful and Corrupt

Verses 20:88-91 of the Noble Quran give the answer of this question

In short, the answer is No; not at all; Aaron was never ever Sinful and Corrupt.

Then who was? It is not Aaron but it is the Samaritan who was Sinful and Corrupt.

The meanings of Verses 20:88-91


Verse 20:88 says:


Then he, the Samaritan, produced for them from the gold they threw in the Fire, and made for them a calf, of saffron hue that had no spirit,

This calf gave forth a lowing sound that was audible

It is said that this sound was due to the blowing wind that hit its cavities and get out off its mouth;

And they cried: what is this? And the Samaritan said: This is your God, the God of Moses, and he had forgotten Allah's worship and command;

It is also said that this means: Moses left the way and took a wrong turn.

So he, Moses, forgot his Lord here and set off in search of him.


Verse 20:89 says:


Allah then said: Did they not see that i.e. the Samaritan and his host, that it, the calf, returns no saying unto them, does not answer them (and possesses for them) and has no power (neither hurt nor use), either to drive away harm from them or bring benefit to them?

In other words, the calf did not reciprocate their words, that is, that it did not give them any response in return, nor did it have any power over hurt for them, that is, any power to prevent it, or any benefit?, that is, any power to procure it for them, this means how can such a thing be taken as a god?


Verse 20:90 says:


And Aaron had certainly said to them beforehand, that is, before the return of Moses,

‘O my people, you are only being tested thereby!

You have been tried with the lowing sound and the worship of the calf

But truly your Lord is the Beneficent, the Compassionate One,

So follow me, in worship of Him,

Follow me regarding His religion

And obey my command’, therein.

Obey my saying and advice

Is the one who said that sinful or corrupt or guilty?


Verse 20:91 says:


They said: We shall by no means cease to be its votaries; we will not cease to cling to it, persisting in worship of it, until Moses returns to us’.

It follows that the sinful and the corrupt are the Samaritan and the people which followed the wicked Samaritan.

Praise is to Allah Who clarifies the innocence of the Prophet Aaron in his book, the Noble Quran.

I wonder why the Bible puts Aaron (Moses' brother) down.

Verses 20:88-91 in different translations:


Verse 20:88


QARIB:

And made a calf for them, a figure that lowed. "this," they said, "is your god and the god of Moses but whom he has forgotten."

SHAKIR:

So he brought forth for them a calf, a (mere) body, which had a mooing sound, so they said: this is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot

PICKTHAL:

Then he produced for them a calf, of saffron hue, which gave forth a lowing sound. And they cried: this is your god and the god of Moses, but he hath forgotten.

YUSUFALI:

"Then he brought out (of the fire) before the (people) the image of a calf: it seemed to low: so they said: this is your god, and the god of Moses, but (Moses) has forgotten!"


Verse 20:89


QARIB:

What! Did they not see that it did not speak a word to them in return, and for them it could own neither harm nor benefit?

SHAKIR:

What! Could they not see that it did not return to them a reply, and (that) it did not control any harm or benefit for them?

PICKTHAL:

See they not, then, that it returneth no saying unto them and possesseth for them neither hurt nor use?

YUSUFALI:

Could they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?


Verse 20:90


QARIB:

Aaron had said to them before: 'my nation, you have been tempted by it. your lord is the merciful. Follow me and obey my order. '

SHAKIR:

And certainly Aaron had said to them before: o my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your lord is the beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order

PICKTHAL:

And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: o my people! ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your lord is the beneficent, so follow me and obey my order.

YUSUFALI:

Aaron had already, before this said to them: "o my people! ye are being tested in this: for verily your lord is (Allah) most gracious; so follow me and obey my command."


Verse 20:91


QARIB:

They replied: 'we will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.'

SHAKIR:

They said: we will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Moses returns to us

PICKTHAL:

They said: we shall by no means cease to be its votaries till Moses return unto us.

YUSUFALI:

They had said: "we will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us."
