travelling with ADD/ADHD prescriptions to Vietnam?
Hi,
My family and I are taking a trip to Vietnam ( we are actually leaving quite soon), and two members of our family are currently taking Dextroamphetamine (similar to Adderall in the US) as medication for Attention Deficit Disorder. As this is a controlled or restricted medication (i.e. the government has to give approval of the diagnosis before the psychiatrist can prescribe the medication, as it is amphetamines).
Does anyone know if there is any restrictions on taking ADD medications to Vietnam? We are from Australia, and the Vietnamese embassy here is HOPELESS and absolutely no help whatsoever, so we have no idea if we require any specific forms other than a letter form the prescribing psychiatrist or our prescriptions and identification.
Please, any advice is REALLY appreciated.
The reason the VN embassy cannot help you is because- they don't understand your question ... there is very little restriction on prescription medication here. For most drugs you just walk into the pharmacy and buy. We don't have the huge medical bureaucracy in VN - nothing is subsidized so the government are not really interested.
Just bring your medication and any supporting documentation and there will be no problems
You may not be able to buy your drugs here though so bring enough for your trip ..
