Looking for possible half-sibling in Japan?
For a while now, I've been pondering...My father said he may have gotten a local Japanese woman pregnant in Japan on a tour during the Vietnam war. He was a Marine, and I was wondering if there are any Japanese/American resources for these kinda situations.
Heh, right now my step mom is trying to get some records. from what she said, they'd be about 40ish. I've heard of the stigma about them, and I know the chances are kinda bad, but he said right before he left there was "talk" she was pregnant or about to have the baby. That's all I know so far.
I am Japanese, but I have never heard of the kind of resources you are looking for. Because, most of them (I assume there are many, especially in Okinawa) do not want to come out and that they are living their own lives in their own situations.
If you put an add on the local paper where he was stationed, you might get a clue if the baby was born and he/she knows your father's name and other info about him back then.
Considering the age of your "half-sibling" (mid 30's-mid 40's now?), the chances are astronomically slim. But if that happens, it is a miracle!
