What do you recommend when traveling Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh?

I read about Vietnam being a beautiful place to visit.
I am thinking about visiting Ho Chi Minh but I do not know what to visit there.
What do you recommend me?
Is a cheap city or I need a lot of money to stay there a week?

Hi dear,
First, I'm a Vietnamese and i live in HCMC :-)
You know, Vietnam is considered as a very cheap place all over the world, with price of things and living is very cheap. Actually, price in Vietnam is reasonable for Vietnamese but for foreigners, it's too cheap. For 1 week staying here, the money amount you need depends on where you choose to live, such as which hotel which area... For foreigners, i think DISTRICT 1 is the best place for you ( you just need to catch a taxi and ask him to take you to district 1 ) - where you can find so many good hotels and too many foreigners like you staying . Hotels in district 1 is a little expensive than other place but i will recommend you this area. Because in Vietnam, the social evils are everywhere. It will be dangerous for you since you are foreigner coming to Vietnam. District 1 is a very clean , pieceful and beautiful place, i'm sure you will like it ^^!! ( Average price for staying in hotel for a week is about 30 - 60 USD for a 3star hotel and 120 - 160 USD for a 5 star hotel ( per night )
Vietnamese food is very very cheap and tasty. It takes you about 20 USD per day.
Transportation takes about 25 - 30 USD per day.
I will recommend you to visit Đầm Sen and Suối Tiên ( These are 2 interesting places , they have all kinds of entertainment there, like amusement park, zoo, water park .... Or if you want to go to the beach,it takes you 2-3 hours by bus to get to Vũng Tàu beach , many foreigners come to visit this beach - good resorts and seafood. If you still have time, then you should visit Giang Điền stream - not in HCMC, takes about 1hour to get there by bus. You can come to ask traveling agent to make a tour for 1 week in HCMC or even out of HCMC, you can visit many places in 1 week and easier when you have a tour guide to lead you.
Enjoy your trip ^^!!!
Hope i can help :-) !
