What do you do if you are going to stay with someone over the holidays and they smoke in the house?
We are going to stay with my in laws over Thanksgiving and one of the uncles will be there as well. He is a chain smoker. I would not make a big issue out of it but I have a 9 month old baby that I do not want to expose to the smoke even for just 2 days. My husband says that he does not want to ask him to go outside out of respect for the mans age. He says that his uncle has had a hard life and served in Vietnam and we should just deal with it out of respect for his age and position. I disagree but I also do not want to piss anyone off either. What do you all think?
Hotel isn't an option. We are staying in a little cabin in the mountains.
Your husband is right...you can keep the baby out of the area the smoker is, and don't make a big thing of it. Two days isn't going to kill anyone. I understand your worry about the baby, but a man who's done what he has deserves some respect!
