Resorts In Vietnam

How safe is it to invest in companies in Vietnam?

For example a resort area like a golf course or hotel?

Overall, Vietnam would be considered a very attractive investment due to it's rapidly growing economy, relatively young and educated workforce, etc. All that and more is why foreign investors are flooding the streets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with billions of dollars of their money.

There are some Vietnamese companies that would be just as safe of an investment as many blue chip companies in the U.S. However, Vietnam's stock market is like a carnival ride. Many of the natives purchase stocks as if they're lottery tickets instead of an investment, which tends to make stock prices go nuts for no logical reason.

As for investing in a resort.. I know people who have made killings on Vietnam resorts and I know people who want to kill their so called partners for screwing them. It's going to come down to the individuals you're dealing with, how much you trust them and if they are able to convert your investment into a profit. Without knowing the details, I would treat the investment as disposable income. In other words: assume that you will never see the money ever again after you invested it.

Ironically, it's easier for a foreigner to buy a resort along the coast than it is to buy a house in the middle of Hanoi. Go figure...

I hope this helps!
